A Gourdscape

It's too early for fall!  It seems like summer just started.  Where did the time go? But the signs of fall are all around.  The trees have started to turn just a little bit different shade of green and the produce is at its peak. The night hours are getting cooler and the crickets are chirping!
I had a gourd from last fall that apparently I did not get all of the seeds picked up from the ground.  This spring I could tell there was something interesting coming up so just let them grow.  WOW! it has taken over a lot of space in our yard.  Now the fruit of those seeds is being harvested.  It has been so hot I did not want to leave the gourds sitting outside.  SO, I decided to bring them inside and make a gourdscape with them.
Here is a pic when they just started growing.

The blue swirl granite pan was brought in and then it was filled with the gourds.  It made a pretty full pan.  For the center, one of the gourds had started to deteriorate so I cut off about 1/3 and then decided to use it as a vase.  The flowers are so pretty right now.

If I had purchased all of these gourds it would have cost me several dollars.  It is really fun to see all of the different sizes, colors, and shapes that have developed from those "free" seeds.

I also have a basket filled with berries which gave the gourds just a little different look.
