I have been on the quest of the perfect chair to re-do. A search once again at the local thrift market was underway!
A heavy deck chair with a canvas seat and back seemed to be the perfect medium for painting and use to display plants. I have been smitten recently with flamingos. A score of two vintage flamingos was the inspiration for the painting on the back of the chair.
A Dark Peacock teal color was chosen for the white portions of the chair. The scene is a figment of my imagination. I can imagine sitting on the white sandy beaches in front of a row of very colorful townhouses and then spying the flamingos across the bay. A thrift basket was spray painted with a burnt orange color and then filled with a liner and bright flowers.
To finish the scene a straw hat was added to the chair. Whimsey and color were the order of the day! There has been lots of sunshine and warmth recently here and the chair shines in the sun! What a fun project!
As a bonus, a score of a vintage picnic basket was the perfect planter for the table on the lanai.
