Time to open the doorl!~cleaning the closet

The quest to simplify has begun.  The door window is clean and time to open the door and look at our home with new eyes.
This is the entry door to our home.  Immediately inside is the hall closet.

As you can see in the pic, once again I love being the resident artist in our home!

My next project is to put board and batten in the hallway area, but first things first!
NOW for the shocker!  The overstuffed ugly inside!

What a mess!  I am really ashamed of myself.  Years of stuffing and neglect!  I am pretty sure I have never painted the inside since the house was first built.
The sacks were gathered and labeled.  Give away, throw away, and put away.

The task begins!  The timer was set for 15 minutes and everything was taken out of the closet.  It was pretty amazing that it did not take much longer, maybe 2 or 3 minutes, but there was a LOT of STUFF in there!

After everything was removed, I cleaned the walls ceiling, floor, and shelf thoroughly.  I had some Sweet Annie paint left over from the gathering room project and this was used to paint the inside.

I can understand it is probably not the most exciting post, but this one is to help keep me accountable for doing what I say I will do in my quest to simplify.  I found some really pretty boxes at Dollar General to store some things and then had two very large bags to give away.  A smaller bag was full for throw away, and the rest certainly was a put-away or a new home found!

Closing the door on this saga and I can't wait to read the next chapter in "More Hours in my Day."
