From Seeds to the Table ~Vintage look Tablescape

Our harvest has been bountiful this summer.  To celebrate those end of summer veggies a vintage looking tablescape was planned.

Saving unusual containers for those beautiful blooms has been so much fun.  There was one can of Red Gold tomato juice in the pantry.  It was used in a recipe and then the can lid was cut out with a non-sharp can opener. The can was cleaned well and then it was ready for use. Once again zinnias, marigolds, purple sage, tomato, and a little bit of tomato vine found their way into the can.

Tomatoes, cucumbers, and green peppers were in abundance.  I have canned many quarts of juice and spaghetti Sauce.

My favorite dollar store has the cutest fall towels for 1.00 each.  I decided to use the towels for napkins with each place setting.  The spaghetti sauce recipe calls for tomato paste. So instead of throwing out the cans, both ends were cut out with the non-sharp opener, washed well, and left to dry out.  The towels were pulled through each can so that the cuteness shows.

My friend had given me this fabric quite a bit ago, but I had never got around to putting it together.  Place mats were made by folding the fabric in half and a thin batting placed between the layers of fabric.  A straight stitch was sewn all around the perimeter of the mat to help hold the batting in place. I just love those colors.

Our youngest son is a potter.  He made these beautiful plates and I so do love the cobalt blue color!

Pinterest is a great source for Vintage seed packet labels.  These were printed off and then placed on a solid paper as place cards.

Our guests will be taking home a quart of spaghetti sauce as a party favor.  A simple circle was cut from fabric and then placed over the jar.  Strips of red gingham fabric were used as a bow.  This is a great frugal way to make ribbon.

I trust you have enjoyed a step back in time in using what came from the garden for our table today!  For the meal, we will have baked spaghetti, salad, homemade bread, and Brown Butter Icing Pumpkin Bread.

Have a wonderful day!
