A Painted Tapestry~Awaiting a Tea Party

The beginning of an idea.  A teacup tapestry has been designed for a special teacup.  The design was painted on a coarse weave fabric.    

At first, I called it a teacup rug.  That just not seem to do it justice.  I thought it needed a little more elegant sounding name.  Hence, it is becoming a teacup tapestry.

Soft acrylic colors were used to create this design.

The fabric makes it look even softer.  A layer of batting was placed between the top painted portion and the bottom fabric.

 It was sewn right sides together and then turned.  The outside was stitched around and then a pretty bridal lace attached.  

The inspiration for the teacup tapestry came from this teacup and teapot.
