The Happy Place~Making Slipcovers & Pillows

It is no secret that I love color!  Our home away from home has been a perfect place to try my hand at slipcovers and new pillows.

This room receives a lot of light and has a very pretty view.  The chair on the left was purchased last year but the cushions did not tie in with the other chair and ottoman.   Here is a picture of the chair at it's worst!

First the chair on the left was covered with HGTV fabric (Garden oddesy fog.)  I have had this fabric in my fabric stash for quite awhile.  I love the soft subtle look and the pretty colors.  It took approximately 1 1/2 yards of fabric for this part of the project.  The draping method was used to slipcover the chair on the left.  It is a simple method.  Here is a very good tutorial if you would like to see how it was done.  You can see the link here.

Since the chairs sit side by side I wanted to try and tie both together with fabric.  I found some contrasting Waverly fabrics to accomplish this.  This is the idea which was formulated before adding the fabric.

The back pillows for both the chairs was a must.  It makes them much more comfortable.  The ottoman was the same fabric as the chair on the left and since both sit so close wanted to make them tie in together.

My hubby sits in the chair on the right and to protect the head rest I wanted to make a covering to help protect the fabric.

This was made like a sack.  The three fabrics were placed on the front. Prairie points were made with the middle fabric to add more interest.

A simple covering was made for the existing pillow which can be removed easily for cleaning.  The chair had been previously chalk painted and waxed.  The chair and ottoman were a thrift store find.  The same fabrics were used to make a slipcover for the ottoman.

This was a fun project to tie everything together and create a space that was happy and colorful!

The project was fairly simple to do.  It took an afternoon to make the pillows and slipcovers for the chair on the right and the ottoman.  The slipcover for the chair on the left was another day's work. Have a blessed day!
